there gamers, are you still having trouble facing that pesky Koopa King?
Throughout the last four decades Nintendo has continued to surprise us and give
us a new and improved Mario game. Each time they like to up the ante and make
the final boss that much harder. I have been a huge nerd and have owned all the
Mario games, whether it is 2D or a 3D platformer. I have mastered how to defeat
that fire-breathing villain we all grew to hate as kids. Here I will show you
how to defeat Bowser in all of the Mario installments since the very first one.
2D Mario Games
Super Mario Bros.:
Bowser always is known for just using one attack, and that
is to spit flames down the hallway as Mario gets near to his secret hiding place
within his infamous castle. Bowser will often pick a spot where Mario has just completed
a challenging jump, trying to catch Mario off guard. Make your way to the right
past this carefully, and make sure to use of any of the bunkers in the flooring
so you can get to the Bowser with still having your mushroom. If you can do
this and keep Super Mario intact then just run into Bowser, which will turn you
into regular Mario and quickly hit the Axe Switch sending Bowser to his death. If
you do not have Super Mario and you are just Regular Mario, then now Bowser
throws his hammers in large clusters to try and get you as well! You need to go towards him, get inside the
arc of hammers he throws, and when he jumps up, quickly run underneath him to
reach the Axe Switch.
Super Mario Bros.3:
This really should go without saying for pretty much any
boss fight in the Mario franchise, but first thing should be making sure you
are using a power-up before entering the boss battle. You want to dodge all the
fire he spits out just like in the previous game. If he hits you with it, you
will lose your power-up. Next, you want to wait and make Bowser break through
the brick. You will want to keep hopping to the same place where the brick is
now broken. Once you get him to get all the brick and it is gone, he will fall.
Then all you have to do is run and save Princess Peach.
Super Mario World:
This game Bowser is flying as opposed to the other two where
he was just jumping towards you. This boss battle is way harder than the last
two too. As Bowser flies over you he will throw mechakoopas at you, so make
sure you dodge these. He throws two mechakoopas and if they touch you they will
give you damage. Then all you have to do is jump on top of one of the
mechakoopas, which will stun it. If you spin and destroy the mechakoopas you
have to wait for Bowser to throw more at you and the respawn could take some
time. Now pick up the stunned mechakoopa and throw it at Bowser as he flies in
his clown car. But one time is not good enough, you have to repeat the process
and hit Bowser a second time. Now fireballs will reign from the sky and you
have to dodge them. Bowser will come back and try to drop a bowling ball on you
and all you have to do is jump over it. Now you have to hit Bowser with two more
mechakoopas again. Now Bowser will fly around in a steady motion back and forth,
which isn’t hard to time once he gets going, and you have to avoid him by
jumping over him. You have to hit him with two more mechakoopas and just avoid
him stomping you and you will finally get to save your princess.
New Super Mario Bros:
You need to be careful when you enter Bowser’s lair because
he is whipping fireballs at you, that you need to avoid. Bowser starts throwing
hammers once you get past the corridor. He only throws the hammers in one
direction, which is towards the entrance, so just try and get as close as
possible to him. Wait for Bowser to start jumping and quickly run underneath
him and press the Axe Switch. Bowser will start groaning and the bridge he is
standing on will collapse. You must jump on the platforms now avoiding Bowser’s
claws, he will try and swipe you down. Each platform will increase the
difficulty, until you get to the third one, there will be a huge button. Press
the button and you will get to bathe in the glory and save Princess Peach.
3D Mario Games
Super Mario 64:
In this Mario game, you have to battle Bowser three separate
times. Each battle is harder than the last, but nothing is too challenging. All
three battles are pretty much the same though. You must get behind him, grab
his tail, spin him around using the control stick on the N64 controller, and
throw him into a bomb located on the side of the arena. It is all about timing
though, because once you throw him into a bomb, that bomb disappears and you
have to make sure he hits other ones. Recognize his most commonly used attack,
which is his fireball. When he uses his fire breath, he faces one direction and
keeps facing that direction as he breathes the fire. This is the perfect
opportunity for you to run around him and grab his tail with the B button.
Repeat this process three times and you claim your victory in Nintendo’s first
3D Mario platform.
Super Mario Sunshine:
This boss battle is a lot easier than some of the others. Switch
to your Rocket Nozzle by pressing the X button. Go to one of the five sides of
the stage that has a fireball symbol on it. Charge your Rocket Nozzle by
pressing the R button, then once it's fully charged, release the button to fly high
into the air. While you are in the air, right after using the Rocket Nozzle, to
perform a Ground Pound by pressing L button. If you do this correctly, this
will destroy the part of the platform you're on. Hop back to the main part of
the stage while the side you destroyed is falling. Just repeat steps for the other
four other sides of the stage to defeat Bowser.
Super Mario Galaxy:
First you need to jump into the air to avoid Bowser’s shock
waves when he performs his stomping move. Hit Bowser where his face is showing
if Bowser collects rock around him and rolls towards you. Bowser will shoot
fireballs and you just need to jump and avoid these. Spin through the bouncy
plants after Bowser’s fireball attack for them to hit him. Bowser will turn
into a spiky ball and roll towards you now, so just jump and avoid him and wait
for him to jump up at you. When Bowser jumps up at you jump on his head, and
this will put an end to his terror.
Super 3D World:
In this game Bowser, will be on a car driving away from you
and he will throw out soccer balls towards you. The road you are chasing him on
is never ending until you beat him. Make sure you run into the soccer balls and
deflect them back at him before they explode. He will shoot out huge fireballs,
so avoid these while you are running. Keep dodging his fireballs and deflecting
the soccer balls until you finally defeat him.
